Case Converter
Convert text to uppercase, lowercase, title case, or sentence case.
Paste in any text and instantly convert it to uppercase, lowercase, Title Case, Sentence case, or camelCase/snake_case variants used in code — a small but constant need when copy doesn't match the formatting you need.
Everything runs locally in your browser, so pasted text — even sensitive text — never leaves your machine.
The case styles, and where each belongs
| Style | Example | Conventionally used for |
|---|---|---|
| camelCase | userAccountId | JavaScript, Java variables and functions |
| PascalCase | UserAccountId | Class and component names, C# members |
| snake_case | user_account_id | Python, Ruby, SQL columns |
| SCREAMING_SNAKE | USER_ACCOUNT_ID | Constants and environment variables |
| kebab-case | user-account-id | URLs, CSS classes, HTML attributes, filenames |
| Title Case | User Account Id | Headlines and headings |
| Sentence case | User account id | Body copy, UI labels, buttons |
Title Case is less settled than it looks
Different style guides disagree about which words to capitalise. AP style capitalises prepositions of four letters or more; Chicago capitalises them only when used adverbially; APA capitalises everything of four letters or more. None of them is wrong — they're just different houses.
The one rule they share is that the first and last word are always capitalised, and short articles and conjunctions in the middle usually are not. If you're writing for a publication, follow their guide; if you're writing UI copy, sentence case is increasingly the default because it reads faster and handles proper nouns more gracefully.
Frequently asked questions
- What's the difference between Title Case and Sentence case?
- Title Case capitalises the first letter of most words (common in headlines), while Sentence case only capitalises the first letter of the whole sentence, like normal prose.
- Does this handle acronyms correctly in Title Case?
- Title-casing generally capitalises each word's first letter; existing all-caps acronyms are preserved as-is rather than being lowercased.
- Can I convert text to snake_case or camelCase for code?
- Yes — the tool includes programming-style case conversions alongside the standard text cases.
- Why is kebab-case used for URLs rather than underscores?
- Search engines have long treated hyphens as word separators and underscores as word joiners, so hyphens make each word individually indexable. Hyphens are also easier to read in an underlined link.
- Is my pasted text sent anywhere?
- No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser with JavaScript, so nothing is uploaded — safe for text you'd rather not paste into an online service.
