Gold, silver and platinum are quoted internationally as a spot price per troy ounce in US dollars. This tool pulls that live spot price, converts it into your chosen currency, then converts again from troy ounces into whatever unit you actually think in — grams, tola, or kilograms — so you get a straight price for the metal itself.
Enter a weight and pick a purity — 24K, 22K hallmark, 18K and more for gold; sterling for silver; 950 for platinum — and the calculator scales the spot price down to that purity to show what that weight is worth right now. Rates refresh automatically, so the figure on screen tracks the market rather than a snapshot from earlier in the day.
Frequently asked questions
- Why is my jeweller's price different from this calculator?
- This tool shows the raw metal value at the live spot rate. A jeweller's quoted price also bundles in making charges, wastage, GST or other local taxes, and their own margin, so it will run higher than the pure metal calculation here.
- What does '22K (916 hallmark)' mean?
- 22-karat gold is 22 parts gold out of 24, or 91.6% pure — the '916' hallmark stamped on Indian jewellery refers to that same purity. The calculator applies that ratio to the 24K spot price to value 22K metal accurately.
- How often do the rates update?
- Metal spot prices and currency exchange rates are both fetched from live market data sources and cached briefly on our server, so the price you see is current to within a few minutes rather than a fixed daily rate.
- What's a tola?
- A tola is a traditional South Asian unit of mass, commonly used for gold, equal to 11.6638 grams. Selecting it converts the per-gram spot price into a per-tola figure automatically.
